Power of Two Partners with NYC’s Newborn Home Visiting Program

As an extension of Power of Two’s citywide effort to promote family healing in our BIPOC communities, we are happy to share a new collaboration with NYC’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH)- New Family Home Visits Initiative. Through its Newborn Home Visiting Program that provides families of newborns with referrals to promote a safe and nurturing environment for young children, DOHMH has committed to supporting at least 100 new families with Power of Two’s responsive parenting approach across the city this year.

Since our inception over six years ago, we have focused our strengths-based approach to parenting to ensure that caregivers are able to tap into their indigenous parenting roots as we partner with them on their journey to family healing. From the start of our work we found a partner in this approach through the New York City’s Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), who has given us, and our caregivers, the space to promote and practice strengths-based support for families across the five boroughs. We welcome DOHMH as they join our collective response to family support.

In partnership with our NYC agencies, we are excited to keep shifting the focus towards family-centered, primary prevention services that promote strong bonds between caregivers and children so that our kids can have the healthy start that they deserve, parents and families can thrive together, and communities can continue their journey of healing.
